Post Position

The post position is the numbered stall a horse starts from, assigned by draw. It interacts with running style and track configuration: an inside post can save ground or trap a horse on the rail, while an outside post may force a wide, ground-losing trip. On some tracks and distances the bias is significant enough to make or break a play.
