Box (Betting)

To box an exotic is to cover every order of the horses you pick, so you win regardless of their finishing sequence. A boxed exacta of two horses wins whether it comes 1-2 or 2-1. Boxes are convenient but expensive — the cost multiplies with each horse added — so box only horses you rate equally, and key instead when one stands out. Full detail in how to bet an exacta box.
