Speed Figure
A speed figure is a single number summarizing how fast a horse ran, adjusted for the track surface and distance so races can be compared. Higher is faster — but always read a figure against the par for today's class, and read the pattern of recent figures, not just the last one. The best-known version is the Beyer.
