HORSE RACING TERM
Underlay
An underlay is a horse whose odds are shorter than its true chance — the price is too low, so the bet is negative expected value, no matter how likely the horse is to win. A heavily-bet favorite is often an underlay. The disciplined move is to pass or bet it in a different pool. The opposite is an overlay.
